Breakout Selection

To assist with room assignments, please share your first choice for each breakout. These are not final selections, and you can change your selection as long as space allows.

  • This session involves singing, listening, and recitation of a curated selection of works intended towards prayer.

  • When was the last time you set aside time to pray as a couple? Scripture tells us that a threefold cord is stronger than two, and we often use this passage from Ecclesiastes at weddings to remind us to keep God central in marriage. Additionally, studies show praying as a couple has incredible benefits. Still, most couples don't pray together. We can always come up with a reason not to pray together, but what if prayer didn’t need to be as formal and could be sprinkled through daily life? We will discuss how small tweaks can make a big difference in your prayer life and improve your relationship.

  • Every page and promise of Scripture can be turned into a prayer with a couple of tools and a little bit of creativity. In this practical session, you’ll take the next step forward in your devotional life by learning to pray through any Scripture you read.

  • Christians often face difficult decisions between multiple God-pleasing paths and may fear choosing the wrong option. The Third Petition encourages us to prayerfully seek wisdom while trusting that God remains the active party, graciously accomplishing His will for us and through us.

  • Habits are powerful. They shape our lives and they shape who we become. The philosopher William James put it like this: all our life, so far as it has definite form, is but a mass of habits. What mass of habits defines your life? Is prayer one of them? Scripture invites prayer to be the central habit of our lives. Join me in this workshop to learn how we can shift from merely intending to pray more to living lives shaped by the habit of prayer.

  • Prayer can be most difficult in times of great darkness. Suffering brings with it fear, isolation, and sometimes despair. Jesus steps in, hears our prayers, and often uses others as agents of hope. Come listen and share our experience of how Jesus heard our silent screams and gave us hope!

  • Sometimes in the church we are so focused on answers that we stop asking questions. When we stop asking questions, curiosity and wonder can quickly dry up and become devalued. Yet as we read the Scriptures, we find wonder and curiosity are hallmarks of Jesus' personality and teachings. In this session, we will explore how to cultivate wonder and curiosity, drawing particular attention to how wonder can be an untapped posture in our prayer lives.

  • Do you promise to pray for others and can’t remember who or what the request was? Does your mind wander or do you get bored when you pray? Do you feel uncomfortable, impatient, or obligated during prayer time?
Scripture invites and commands us to pray, and it is an integral part of worship and our relationship with the Lord. We teach prayers and postures for prayer, but why do so many of us still struggle with prayer? In this session, we’ll share practices that help with focus, paying attention, and dealing with distractions as well as resources for personal use and teaching prayer to children. We will take time to try a new way to pray Scripture, as well as a powerful process for the “prayer of lament.” Join us to discover some simple ideas for an effective prayer life.

  • If you have children or grandchildren, you probably have crumbs on your floor. And if you're honest, your family prayer life may feel a little messy too. But what if all your small prayers—the ones around the dinner table, at bedtime, in the car, or whispered in a hard moment—matter more than you realize? Through Scripture and stories from real families, we will look for the crumbs of prayer and discover how God, in Christ, transforms them for His purpose and glory. You will be encouraged, with the power of the Holy Spirit, to bring your family to Jesus, one crumb at a time.

  • Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote “the time of meditation does not let us down into the void and abyss of loneliness; it lets us be alone with the Word. And in so doing it gives us solid ground on which to stand and clear directions as to the steps we must take.” The reality is, Jesus invites us to pray and meditate with Him, in order that He might guide our steps by His Spirit. In this session, we’ll seek to better understand how our lives alone with Jesus guide us into better lives together.

  • How often do we come to prayer with an answer already in mind? What Randy has found in life, and most recently through the CUAA crisis, is that prayer is learning to trust the One who knows what we do not know and sees what we cannot see and LOVES us BIG TIME. In this session, we will explore how the peace of Christ helps us discern God’s leading, and why waiting time is not wasted time. The goal isn’t simply to get an answer from Jesus, but to know Jesus more deeply and become more willing to honestly say one of our most difficult prayers, “Not my will, but Your will be done.”

  • Join us as we discover various prayer chain and group methods, explore how prayer can impact a community, and rededicate ourselves to the vital and meaningful practice of worshipping and connecting through prayer.
